What's so UNIQUE?
We've been asked, "What's so unique about what the Cedar Valley Network is doing?" Indeed, we already have radio stations, streaming audio and websites. So it is proper to ask what makes this so special?
We are combining the long-term popularity and ease of listening that is inherent to a radio station and applying to streaming web audio. That is called "webcasting." Many land-based stations are already doing this and a lot of hobbyist (like the ham radio operators of days gone by) are exploring the audio possibilities of webcasting, too. And there are a lot of websites with click to operate audio files, as well.
The Cedar Valley Network is establishing multiple webcasting channels on many varied and related topics. Some specialized and some very general. But the programming is not re-transmitted local signals from a radio station with all the local stuff mixed in. Nor is it a mere hobby testing ground. For us, the only way is to professionally produce and transmit programming with the internet audience in mind. And, we realize it is an international audience, too.
